“When a child is smiling and laughing, we know they feel connected… and that’s where real learning happens.”
— Jessica Wallace
The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is an evidence-based, play-based early intervention approach designed for young children on the autism spectrum and children with developmental delays, typically aged 18 months to 6 years.
Grounded in connection and shared enjoyment, the ESDM supports children to build communication, social engagement, learning, and confidence through play and everyday interactions.
By following your child’s natural interests and creating motivating, back-and-forth experiences, learning happens in a way that feels engaging, natural, and enjoyable for your child.

Inside an ESDM session
-
Personalised, one-on-one play-based sessions delivered across Sydney, NSW. In each session your child’s interests are used to build connection, communication, and confidence in everyday moments.
-
Every session begins by meeting your child where they are at and stepping into their spotlight of attention. By noticing what naturally captures your child’s interest and joining them there.
-
We target developmental goals such as communication, social engagement, imitation, flexibility, emotional regulation, and learning. Activities are designed to feel naturally motivating and enjoyable for your child.
-
The ESDM is highly collaborative. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to be involved throughout the process so strategies, routines, and moments of connection can naturally carry over into everyday life beyond the session itself.
-
Sessions are designed to feel calm, playful, and pressure-free. Every child develops differently, and my approach focuses on creating a safe and encouraging environment where your child feels supported and confident to engage.
-
Families are always welcome to reach out with questions, updates, videos, or challenges throughout the week so support can remain practical, responsive, and connected to real daily life.
